![]() ![]() The graphics move very fluidly, but with crummy art direction and the same bland id Software color palette from that era, it's simply unremarkable beyond the frame rate and level design. Make no mistake it's far better than the PS2 port, but every category is above average with nothing spectacular or ground-breaking that can be noticed. In the year 2011, Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War doesn't stand as one of the best, but is still a great game nonetheless, and is worth adding to anyone's classic shooter collection. In addition to the PC version's multiplayer levels, many of which have been redesigned, new Xbox-specific stages have been included as well as an Elimination Mode, which has players fighting each other until only one remains. ![]() Each character performs specific tasks and the team's commands can be relayed using the Xbox Voice Communicator. As in the computer version, players can choose one of four roles as part of the Allied or Axis forces: soldier, lieutenant, engineer, and medic. Players can enlist the help of a friend in the all-new Cooperative Mode, while groups of soldiers can fight each other in team-based challenges on Xbox Live. ![]() The shotgun found in earlier titles of the long-running series is back, as are the dogs - only this time retrofitted with deadly cannons. Players can even smite minions of the undead with the heavenly power of the Holy Cross. New mechanical enemies can be stunned using EMP Generators, while players are able to protect themselves within the electromagnetic fields of an EMP Shield. ![]() The game begins with a prologue detailing the events leading to the title character's triumphant return to the place where the series began. Among the Xbox additions are new levels, items, weapons, and modes of play. Blazkowicz as he prepares to infiltrate Castle Wolfenstein to put an end to Heinrich Himmler's diabolical plan of using hideous experiments in the war effort. The storyline remains unchanged from the computer version, which finds players in the role of B.J.
